In this groundbreaking work, John Ruskan focuses on the vital but often misunderstood issue of emotional healing and growth on the path to higher consciousness. He presents a revolutionary synthesis of Eastern and Western psychological principles that empower the reader to release negative suppressed feelings, end the havoc they can cause, and transform all levels of their being.

John's lifelong personal experience on the spiritual path began in 1968 at the age of 26, when he was initiated into a major yoga tradition. Almost 30 years later, in 1994, he published independently Emotional Clearing, a guide for releasing suppressed negative feelings through an inner meditative technique. The book became a bestseller on many New Age book lists and was later released in 2000 by Random House and eight foreign publishers.

Although a Mensa member with considerable intellectual capacity, Ruskan regards intellectual probing into psychological dysfunction as limited at best. His work is completely focused on a intuitive, emotion based, mystical approach to inner psychological healing. He integrates key humanistic psychological principles into a practice that stands apart from mainstream analytical cognitive therapies and the current neuroscience craze, which he sees as a mostly materialistic distraction from genuine soul healing.

John began his career with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University (1964), but quickly abandoned that path for the life of an artist. He was a working musician, singer and songwriter, and recording studio owner in New York City until reinventing himself as a holistic psychologist in 1994. He credits that artistic experience with developing the intuitive intuitive skills that enable him to formulate his vision and empathize deeply with others.
